Pheonix University Course Day 1

After being thoroughly confused by attendance policy, making a mistake on our first discussion prompt by using the instructions on our first ASSIGNMENT instead of the prompt for the discussion, I managed to enter my 175 word+ post and commented on another student's post as well. I am noticing their posts are much more structured than mine: I used to be the KING of 5 paragraph essays... what's happened to me? (I blame the internet: I'm looking at YOU recs.google.etc... and Facebook)

Here are some notes from yesterday and today's readings and musings.

Google Form for parents (basic info, perhaps preference on how to contact, what they feel their child’s learning style is, past problems and concerns and future hopes?)

Make a public Calendar for students and parents to view.

Does google classroom have an embedded calendar viewer?

Form Notifications (addon for GForms to receive email when users complete form)

http://goo.gl/ shortens URLs

Use google calendar to attach documents to specific events as well!

Maybe a webquest to create a classroom management system they can agree on?

Portfolios : can we supply them with templates?

Google Earth: as an educator as a multidiscipline project we were having them map routes for deliverying supplies using google maps to help. But I was unaware of the measurement tool. I could even see using google lit trip for a math project with important mathematical concepts being addressed at differnet locations or perhaps an assignment for measuring specific items or researching things at different places.

And I feel I am not making good enough use of youtube: students know and love youtube... perhaps I am afraid to send them to it as it will side track them perhaps.

You can use google hangouts to record a video and upload it to youtube…?!?

Something called Polyline for drawing in GDocs...
